[NEWS] Inter BEE 2019 to Be Held in Makuhari Messe from November 13 to 15: New Special Project of INTER BEE SPORTS Planned for 2020
Inter BEE 2019 will be held in Makuhari Messe over three days from November 13 to 15. We held a briefing for exhibitors in INTERCITY AIR in Akasaka, Tokyo on July 19. We will now begin full-fledged preparations for Inter BEE 2019 this year. For example, we will update our website and publish the latest exhibitor list.
Inter BEE is an international exhibition. It brings together the latest innovations related to the contents business from Japan and overseas under one roof as a professional exhibition for audio, video and communications. Following on from last year, we will again hold Inter BEE this year – the 55th time it has been held since 1965 – using the International Exhibition Halls 1 to 8, the International Conference Hall and the Event Hall of Makuhari Messe.
We held Inter BEE at the same time as the Digital Content EXPO (organizer: DCAJ) for the first time last year. This led to an increase in the number of visitors in the digital contents field. We recorded 40,839 registered visitors to Inter BEE. This year’s Inter BEE will further expand the transmission of information as an opportunity to experience new possibilities in media in preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. For example, we will hold a new special project called INTER BEE SPORTS in relation to sports.
Takashi Kikushima, Head of the Organizing Secretariat: “Presentation of a Media System toward the Realization of Society 5.0”
Mr. Takashi Kikushima, Head of the Organizing Secretariat in the managing body of the Japan Electronics Show Association, took the podium at the outset of the briefing and gave the following description of this year’s Inter BEE 2019.
“We formed an executive committee for Inter BEE and started with the position of a three-year plan aiming to become a comprehensive media event in 2017. This year will be the third year of this project. Looking ahead to 2020, we wish to work closely with the organizing body of the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA) with the desire to present a media system that will expand toward the realization of an ultra-smart society and Society 5.0.” (Kikushima)
Mr. Kikushima also announced that Inter BEE will be held at the same time as the Digital Content Expo organized by the Digital Content Association as a highlight of this year’s event. Furthermore, he introduced our plans for events in special areas with sessions or pod-style exhibits (e.g., INTER BEE CONNECTED, INTER BEE EXPERIENCE, INTER BEE IGNITION and INTER BEE CREATIVE), IP-PAVILION and an exhibit area in line with the theme of 5G as initiatives focused on specialized fields.
New Project of INTER BEE SPORTS to Be Held
We will hold INTER BEE SPORTS as a new initiative among these special projects. Interest in sports events is increasing ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. Against this backdrop, we will hold this event to present the possibilities in media that will allow even more people to enjoy sports events in various styles through broadcasting and communications.
Mr. Kikushima introduced this as a “new initiative to shine the spotlight on sports that are considered to be key contents in the video and communications field.” He then gave an overview of this event. “We will hold talks under the theme of sports with a keynote speech from 10:20 to 12:00 on November 13 on the first day of Inter BEE. Moreover, we plan to set up a section in Exhibition Hall 7 so that it is possible to propose production techniques and viewing styles for content on the theme of sports and content unique to sports as a special exhibition.
Following on from that, Mr. Kikushima explained in the briefing that we have further updated our website from last year and will start posting exhibition information on it from July 30. He stated that we will continue to proactively develop promotions. For example, we will showcase exhibition related information of exhibiting companies and information related to events in the Inter BEE Online Magazine, our official Facebook account, our official Twitter account and our official Instagram account.
