IT Access (Main Office: Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture) is displaying the Allegro DVT VoD/OTT file-based encoder/transcoder Genova as a cloud-based solution and the automated file-based QC software Baton from Interra Systems at Inter BEE 2014, which is being held at Makuhari Messe from Wednesday, November 19 to Friday, November 21. At their booth (booth number: 6401), they are running demos using Genova to transcode MPEG2 and H.264 TS files into HEVC MP4 and TS files on Amazon AWS and running Baton on transcoded video files. Furthermore, they are running demos of the the second screen solution SyncNow 2nd Screen, from Civolution of Holland, where they provide subtitles using audio watermarks.

■Demos of cloud-based HEVC file transcoding and automated file-based QC through Baton
The VoD/OTT file-based encoder/transcoder Genova, from Allegro DVT, is a MPEG2, H.264, HEVC software encoder. The supported cloud environments include OpenStack/KVM and VMWare. Supported clouds include Amazon EC2 and Microsoft Azure. It is also said that the newest version also supports the Apple ProRes format. Baton is an automated file-based QC software that takes a test plan set by the user and automatically performs various conformance and quality checks on digital content. Baton can also be used on the cloud. IT Access is currently offering Genova and Baton as cloud-based solutions. At their booth, they are running demos with Genova and Baton installed on a virtual machine on the Amazon EC2 cloud. They explained that, "You can see contents that were transcoded on the cloud, and have quality errors, be checked and get results on-the-spot."

■Planning a demo featuring supplementary content during a soccer game and movie subtitles
They are displaying a second screen solution, SyncNow 2nd Screen, from Civolution of Holland. It is a second screen solution product that utilizes audio watermarking technology. After inserting a watermark, which includes a content ID and TimeCode, connected applications, which have been installed on a smart phone or tablet, can sync with it and display related information simultaneously. This software was first used domestically by broadcaster, WOWOW, in a promotion featuring foreign dramas and their TV app in September of this year. At their booth, they are running demos where they use it to match subtitles to the voices in video footage from a World Cup soccer match that was demoed at NAB, and a video supplied by the NPO, Media Access Support Center. Sales representative, Miho Fukuda, explained about the subtitle demo, “Japanese films do not include Japanese subtitles, so by using SyncNow 2nd Screen for the hearing-impaired, we can supply a service that displays Japanese subtitles on tablets and wearable tech.” To use it, you download the corresponding app and subtitle data in advance, so if the movie theater doesn’t have a working network, or if you start to watch a movie part-way through, subtitles can still be displayed from that point, Ms. Fukuda said. She further said that she hopes that, going forward, people can use this technology without any barriers.

■ Demo of the latest version of HEVC Analyzer
As a 4K/HEVC solution, they are displaying the newest version of the HEVC streaming and off-line parsing tool, Vega HEVC Analyzer, from Interra Systems. Some of its features include HEVC stream conformance checking and encoded stream debugging, video compression/expansion tool performance and quality valuation and comparison, optimized video/audio encoding/decoding utilities, and compatibility checks. The newest version is scheduled to be released at the end of next month and it was mentioned that they planned to expand their supported profile range to include HEVC 4:2:2 and 4:4:4.

As for others, they are introducing the high-performance distribution package, USTREAM Ad-free Plus plan, as a business-oriented distribution solution.
