ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation and Oracle Corporation Japan's booth showed LTFS and the StorageTek SL150 tape drive system.
The Oracle StorageTek SL150 is a tape library with a minimum 30 tapes suitable for a small start. The capacity is expandable to 300 tapes via USB. The tape cartridges can be easily used like USB flash drives. It can also be used as an NAS. Since the tape library's cartridges are automatically replaced in the background, the capacity can be expanded.
Combining it with disc storage greatly reduces the operation cost while the data management efficiency is retained.
The LTFS file system enables random access even with tapes. Compatible with Explorer and other browsers where you can just drag and drop files.
By having users use their own tape drive, simultaneous access by multiple users is possible. Also, by creating partitions, data searches and retrieval become more efficient by using the index or actual data.
