Electori showcased the new "IRON" Mastering Compressor from SPL (Sound Performance Lab).
The IRON is a one-of-a-kind product, combining in a single unit the legendary sound of a vintage tube compressor with the high dynamic range that is a point of pride for SPL and their proprietary 120V operational amplifier. SPL is aiming to establish a new standard with this tube compressor, equipped with an innovative parallel dual tube circuit and a variety of new features.
The "120V Technology" found in IRON is SPL's handmade discrete op-amp, with a 116dB SNR. The IRON boasts 34dB headroom, a standalone dynamic range of over 150dB, and even a frequency response of up to 200kHz. Its performance far exceeds that of the current standard PCM audio format's 24-bit, 192kHz performance and the DSD digital format's 1-bit, 256fs capabilities.
Based in Germany, SPL unveiled the "Vitalizer," an equalizer with a completely new conception of sound, in 1990. The company's name became widely known among musicians and recording engineers. Since then SPL has continued to create new products with a unique approach as a maker of outboard gear.
