News: IBM Japan showcases at Inter BEE 2016 its archive tape drives, all-flash storage, and its cloud-based workflow solution for the optimization of 4K/8K video editing

IBM Japan (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan) will be exhibiting at Inter BEE 2016, held at Makuhari Messe, from November 16th (Wed) to 18th (Fri). IBM's booth (Hall 4, Booth number: 4510) will provide three exhibition corners: the Tape Products Corner, Flash Products Corner, and Cloud Solutions Corner, based on the theme of "Flash & Tape with Cloud — Combining On-premise Flash and Tape with Cloud Infrastructure." It will showcase the company's tape products and all-flash products, as well as its solution for increasing the efficiency of on-premise flash & tape-based workflows.

Exhibition of the Internal Structure of IBM Tape Drives
　The Tape Products Corner will be exhibiting the enterprise tape drive IBM TS1150 and the JD cartridge IBM 3592 JD Tape Cartridge. The enterprise tape drive TS1150 is a tape drive that can support LTFS (Linear Tape File System), handling non-compressed data at 360MB/s per second. It can handle files on tapes in the same way as if they were stored on disk. At the booth, the internal structure of the TS1150 tape drive will be showcased live, with the engineers from the IBM Tokyo Laboratory who actually developed the TS1150 giving a demonstration of tape data being accessed at a high data rate of 360MB/s.

Exhibition of the IBM DeepFlash 150, Designed for the Optimization of 4K/8K Video Editing
　The Flash Products Corner will be exhibiting the IBM DeepFlash 150, an ultra-high-speed shared storage that can support 4K/8K video editing. The DeepFlash 150 is an all-flash storage that provides the features required when handling big data, such as a high level of scalability, flexibility, efficiency, density, and excellent economy. It features a 3U rackmount, offering a maximum of 512TB of storage and a maximum data reading speed of 12GB/s. Compared to the company's IBM FlashSystem 900, it provides about five times the storage capacity per rackmount, enabling it to be used for a variety of tasks along the UHD workflow.

Showcasing a Solution for the Optimization of 4K/8K Media Set Management by Linking with IBM's cloud IBM Bluemix Infrastructure
　The Cloud Solution Corner will be exhibiting the company's IBM cloud solution, aimed at optimizing the management of on-premise flash & tape-based workflows.
　At the booth, IBM will show a Media Asset Management (MAM) product running on its cloud infrastructure IBM Bluemix Infrastructure (formerly SoftLayer). It will then save videos taken with an IP video camera, directly into the MAM via the Internet, and demonstrate how those video files can be backed up onto its cloud object storage IBM Cloud Object Storage (formerly Cleversafe). For the demonstration, the company will use FOR-A's MediaConcierge for Cloud for the MAM, JVCKENWOOD's GY-HM650 for the IP camera, and as the object storage service, it will use an integrated system comprising of the KDDI Cloud Platform Service (KCPS) and the KCPS Object Storage (KOS).
