Envivio's new encoder for multi-screen video transmissions, and MPEG-DASH and HEVC next-generation format streaming displayed for the first time at Inter BEE 2012
2012.10.30 UP

Envivio will introduce its live and on-demand multi-screen video delivery solution for broadcasters at the booth of its partner company Itochu Cable System (Category: Video and Broadcast Equipment, #6402).
With its own software-based encoding technology, Envivio has the industry's only system solution that allows encoding for live and on-demand streaming with a single hardware.
The 4Caster C4 Gen III, a multi-screen encoder/transcoder, will be prominently displayed at the booth. There will be demonstrations of video transmissions to multiple screens such as smartphones, tablets, PCs, and TVs. A demo will show how to achieve optimum quality streaming without relying on a network environment and device performance.
Envivio also plans the Japan launch of high-quality streaming video equipment for the MPEG-DASH and HEVC next-generation formats. These new products utilize proprietary encoding technology.
MPEG-DASH is an international standard technology that allows Adaptive Streaming via HTTP. Offering stable video-streaming transmissions to various devices, it holds great promise for future services that will distribute content to mobile devices.
With approximately four times the compression efficiency of MPEG-2, and approximately double that of MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, HEVC reduces the network load by 50 percent. As a result, higher-quality video can be delivered at a lower cost. With data capacity up to 8K x 4K, high-quality streaming OTT videos can be viewed even on 4K displays.
Envivio will publicly debut its 4Caster G4, the next-generation encoding appliance unveiled at IBC. G4 comes with Intel's new next-generation processor Sandy Bridge, and its node hardware configuration approximately quadruples encoding efficiency.
